What We Offer:
Foster Farm focuses on those who want to learn, or already know, how to ride and
show an American Saddlebred. We provide quality training and instruction for all
levels.
Lessons:  If you are 6 years old or older, you are ready to take saddle seat lessons!
Lessons last for 1/2 an hour and the instructor is with the student the whole time.
Students are expected to dress in appropriate riding wear for all lessons.  This riding
wear would include an approved helmet, hard sole boot, long fitted pants or jodhpur
pants, and gloves.  Please notice that cowboy boots do not work well for Saddleseat
riding.  After the second lesson, it is expected that the student purchase appropriate
saddleseat boots and jodhpur pants.  In winter weather, students should dress like
they are going to be outside for 40 minutes.  Appropriate clothing makes riding
easier and more comfortable. Lessons will be cancelled if it is under 0 degrees or
over 95 degrees.

Lessons are $30 each, can be purchased in packages, and need to be paid in full
before the lesson has begun.

Boarding:  Boarders have the choice of keeping their horse indoors in a stall all the
time (Standard), having them outside for most of the day and in a stall at night
(Plus), or having them outside all of the time (Pasture).  All horses are fed hay and
grain twice a day.  There currently are two outdoor and one indoor riding arenas
that boarders are welcome to use anytime there are not lessons in the arena.  It is
asked that boarders pay attention to lesson times as the arena can get busy during
the weekends.
Standard: Monthly Board                              $260
Plus: Monthly Board with Daily Turnout        $275
Pasture: Monthly Pasture Board                    $155

Training:  For those boarders who have horses that require some guidance, our
farm offers monthly training.  Horses are professionally brushed and worked four to
six times per week, depending on their need and condition. The goal for most horses
in training is for them to learn to be shown and keep the "Show Horse" look. All
horses will be taught equitation patterns when they are ready and it is expected their
owners will be able to perform these patterns.  One lesson per week is provided at
no cost on the horse in training to the horse owner while the horse is in training.
The Standard board rate is included in the Training rate provided below.

For those horses who may not need much tune-up, we also offer Maintenance
Training.  While in Maintenance a horse is professionally brushed and worked three
times per week, simply to keep them in good condition.  This is typically a good
choice for "seasoned" show horses during the winter months.  The Standard board
rate is included in the Maintenance rate provided below.
Monthly Training                                            $575
Maintenance                                                   $465

Horse Shows:  The focus at Foster Farm is attending horse shows in the Midwest.
Riders will typically ride their own horses in the shows and there will be limited
leasing of lesson horses for shows.  The main reason for showing is to show off
your ability to ride your horse well; the "Art of Riding a Horse."  Horse show fees
will vary somewhat from show to show.  There are standard fees that one must pay
at each show such as class fees, office fees, shavings, bedding, trailering fee, day
care, groom tips, etc.  Please view the "
Fees" page for more detailed prices.

Summer Camps:  Summer camps may be held a few times every summer for
Foster Farm students.  Riders must have taken at least 3 riding lessons at Foster
Farm in order to sign up for camp.  At camp, students learn how to groom the
horses, prepare them for lessons, and keep the barn area clean.  Students ride at
least once per day, play games, and end the week with a horse show and potluck
lunch at the barn.
